Paddy got a job as a bus driver, and on his first morning, he just sat at the depot waiting.

The Bus Inspector came over to see what the problem was and asked, "Paddy, why haven’t you left yet?"

Paddy scratched his head and said, "I’m waiting for the passengers to come to me!"

The Inspector sighed. "Paddy, you have to go to the bus stops! The passengers won’t come here!"

Paddy’s eyes widened. "Ahh! That makes much more sense!"

So, Paddy finally starts his route.

A few hours later, the Inspector gets a call from a very angry passenger.

Passenger: "Your new driver is terrible! He stops at every pub along the route and disappears inside!"

The Inspector rushes out to find Paddy, and sure enough, the bus is parked outside O’Malley’s Pub.

He storms inside and sees Paddy calmly drinking a pint.

Inspector: "Paddy! What are you doing?! You’re supposed to be driving!"

Paddy takes a sip and says, "Ah, but I was told to pick up passengers!"

The Inspector grabs his head. "Passengers from the bus stops, Paddy! Not the pub!"

Paddy shrugs. "Well, I figured if I pick them up from the pub, I'll never have to drop them off!"

The Inspector sighs. "Paddy, you're fired!"

Paddy grins, finishes his drink, and says, "Alright then, but can I at least get a lift back to the depot?"
