A man sees a snake dying in flames and decides to free it from the fire. As soon as he catches it, the snake bites him, causing excruciating pain. The man immediately drops the snake, and the slithering creature falls right back into the fire.
Despite the pain, the man quickly grabs a stick and carefully lifts the snake out of the flames again, this time without getting bitten.
A bystander who had been watching the whole scene shakes his head and says, "Why would you save that ungrateful snake after it bit you?"
The man, still nursing his throbbing hand, replies, "It is in the snake’s nature to bite, but it is in my nature to help."
The bystander nods, impressed.
Then the snake, now safely on the ground, turns around, looks at the man, and hisses, "Bro, I wasn’t biting you—I was just holding on for dear life! Next time, maybe don’t grab me like a stress ball!"
The man stares at the snake. The snake stares back.
The bystander bursts out laughing. "Well, that’s karma for you!"
Moral of the story: If you’re going to save a snake, at least give it a heads-up first!
