A Texas rancher gets in his pickup and drives to a neighboring ranch and knocks at the door. A young boy, about 9, opens the door.

"Is yer dad home?" the rancher asks.

"No sir, he ain't," the boy replies. "He went into town."

"Well, how 'bout yer mom? She home?"

"No sir, she ain't here neither. She went with Dad."

The rancher scratches his head and looks around. "What about your big brother, Jake? He around?"

The boy shakes his head. "Nope. He went with Mom and Dad."

The rancher lets out a sigh. "Well, shoot. I really needed to talk to somebody ‘cause somethin’s been tearin’ up my pasture real bad, and I think it’s that no-good bull y’all sold me."

The boy thinks for a moment, then says, "Well, sir, I know I ain't much, but if it’s about the bull, I know a thing or two. I can help ya!"

The rancher chuckles. "Oh yeah? And what do you know about this kinda thing, young man?"

The boy grins and leans against the doorframe. "Well, I know this much—if it's about the sale, you gotta talk to Dad. If it's about the damage, you gotta talk to Mom. But if it's about getting chased up a tree by that bull, you might just wanna talk to me!"
