A lawyer and two friends, a Rabbi and a Hindu holy man, had car trouble in the countryside and asked to spend the night with a farmer. The farmer said, "There might be a problem. You see, I only have one spare room, and I usually only let one person stay at a time."

The Rabbi, being the wise and kind soul he is, smiled and said, "Well, perhaps we could all share the room. After all, we’re all people of faith. I’m sure we can make it work."

The Hindu holy man nodded in agreement. "Yes, we’re all brothers in spirit, so let’s share the room and the night’s rest peacefully."

The lawyer, however, raised an eyebrow. "I’m fine with that, but I’ll need a little extra space. You know, for my briefcase and all my important documents. Can’t leave those behind."

The farmer scratched his head and said, "Alright, alright. I’ll make it work. But I can’t promise it’ll be comfortable."

That night, they all settled into the room. The Rabbi meditated peacefully, the Hindu holy man chanted quietly to himself, and the lawyer spread out a few of his papers and made himself comfortable with a pillow under his head.

At 3 a.m., the Rabbi woke up with a start. He noticed that the Hindu holy man was gone. "Where is he?" the Rabbi whispered, shaking the lawyer awake.

The lawyer, groggily rubbing his eyes, mumbled, "I don’t know. Maybe he went outside for a walk."

The next morning, the farmer came in to check on them. He looked around and asked, "How was the night, gentlemen?"

The Rabbi replied, "It was fine, but I noticed the Hindu holy man disappeared in the middle of the night. Do you know where he went?"

The farmer nodded with a knowing smile. "Oh, he went out for his 3 a.m. spiritual walk. Happens every night."

The lawyer raised an eyebrow. "Really? And I suppose that's how he stays so... enlightened?"

The farmer chuckled. "No, that's how he stays awake for his next spiritual session. The man’s just too tired of waiting for you to get back to your legal work!"
