A disciple asked Hejasi: -I want to know what is the most funny thing about human beings. Hejasi said: - That they always think crooked: they're in a hurry to grow,
A disciple asked Hejasi:
"I want to know what is the most funny thing about human beings."
Hejasi smiled gently and replied:
"Ah, that’s a long list. But let me tell you a few of the best ones."
He held up his fingers one by one.
"First, they’re in a hurry to grow up—when they’re kids, they dream of being adults. But once they’re adults, they wish they were kids again."
"They sacrifice their health to make money, then spend their money trying to get their health back."
"They live as if they'll never die… and then die as if they never really lived."
The disciple blinked, surprised.
"That’s... pretty deep. I thought you were going to tell a joke."
Hejasi chuckled.
"Oh, but it is a joke, my friend. Life’s greatest humor is in its contradictions. Humans worry so much about tomorrow, they forget to enjoy today. They wear watches to save time, then spend hours looking at memes of cats doing karate."
"They install meditation apps, then get stressed when the Wi-Fi goes down."
The disciple laughed, despite himself.
"So what should we do then?"
Hejasi leaned in and whispered:
"Laugh kindly. Live fully. And maybe don’t schedule your peace through a mobile app."
The disciple nodded slowly.
Then paused and said,
"But… can I at least keep the cat memes?"
Hejasi sighed.
"Fine. But only if the cat is meditating."
