One day, during a lesson on proper grammar, the teacher asked for a show of hands for who could use the word “beautiful” in the same sentence twice.

First, she called on little Suzie, who primly adjusted her glasses and said,
"My mom bought a beautiful dress, and when she wore it to the party, everyone said she looked beautiful."
The teacher smiled and said, “Very good, Suzie.”

Next, little Timmy raised his hand. “Ooh! Ooh! I got one!”
He stood up and said, “The sunset was so beautiful, even the beautiful birds stopped to admire it.”
The class let out an “Awww,” and the teacher nodded in approval.

Then she saw Johnny slouched in the back, chewing on the end of his pencil. She hesitated, but asked, “Johnny, would you like to give it a try?”

Johnny stood up, looked around confidently, and said:
“Sure. Last night, I walked into the kitchen and saw my big sister eating cake straight out of the fridge. I said, ‘Beautiful, just beautiful—Mom’s gonna love this when she finds out!’”

The class erupted in laughter. The teacher sighed, pinched the bridge of her nose, and muttered, “Well… technically correct… but not exactly what I was going for.”

Johnny grinned. “Grammar’s all about context, Miss. I’m just ahead of my time.”
