A high school recently was faced with a unique problem. A number of the girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick, they would leave the bathroom and start checking their makeup in every reflective surface they could find—mirrors, windows, and even the shiny metal lockers.

One day, the school janitor, Mr. Jenkins, noticed the new trend. He was sweeping the hallway when he saw one of the girls leaning over to check her reflection in the water fountain. Another girl was fixing her lipstick in the polished surface of the school’s trophy case, and another had her face nearly pressed up against the glass of the vending machine, checking her lips while trying to decide if she wanted a Snickers or a Kit-Kat.

Realizing that this could become a bigger issue, Mr. Jenkins had an idea. The next morning, he walked into the bathroom with a huge grin, a giant roll of aluminum foil, and a can of spray paint.

The girls arrived, as usual, applying their lipstick. But when they went to the mirrors, they were in for a surprise—Mr. Jenkins had covered every single mirror with a shiny, reflective surface of foil. The girls blinked in confusion as they tried to figure out what was going on.

Then, in his most serious voice, Mr. Jenkins said, “You girls are forgetting the most important rule here. If you're going to check your lipstick, do it on a surface that's not already spoken for!”

The girls looked at him, then each other, and burst into laughter. The whole bathroom erupted with giggles as they realized Mr. Jenkins wasn’t as serious as he seemed.

“Oh no, Mr. Jenkins! What did you do to the mirrors?” one girl asked, shaking her head.

“Well,” he said with a wink, “I just thought you might be getting distracted by all those reflections. I mean, can you imagine how much more time you’ll save now that you have to check your lipstick on the vending machine? Plus, no more ‘mirror hogging.’ Everyone’s a winner!”

The girls loved it so much that they started having lipstick contests in the hallway, trying to find the most creative reflective surfaces in the school. Even the teachers started joining in, with one pulling out her phone to use as a "mirror" at the front of the class. Mr. Jenkins had not only solved the problem, but he’d turned it into a new trend!

And so, the school was never the same again—now, the vending machine had to be wiped down every few hours, and lipstick sales went through the roof. All thanks to Mr. Jenkins, the janitor who knew how to get creative.
