Two young boys were spending the night at their grandparents the week before Christmas. At bedtime, the two boys knelt beside their beds to say their prayers when the youngest one began, "Dear God, please send me a bicycle for Christmas."

The older brother nudged him and whispered, “What are you doing? You can’t just ask for things like that in your prayers!”

The youngest boy, undeterred, continued, “Dear God, please send me a bicycle, and make sure it's blue and shiny with a big basket. I really, really want it this year, I promise I’ll be good!”

The older brother shook his head. “You’re missing the point. You don’t pray for material things. It’s not like that. You need to ask for things like good health, peace in the world, and happiness for everyone.”

The younger boy looked confused, then paused for a moment. He whispered loudly, "Okay, then… Dear God, please send me good health, world peace, and happiness for everyone… and a bicycle."

The older brother sighed and said, "Well, at least you tried."

The younger boy grinned, “Guess what? I also asked Santa, so I’ll probably get both!”
