There was a little boy who loved caterpillars. One day he found one, took him home, and made a little home for him. He watched this caterpillar every day, making sure he had plenty of food and a comfortable place to rest.

Days passed, and the boy’s fascination grew. He’d watch the caterpillar munching on leaves, moving around, and slowly growing bigger. “You’re getting so big, little guy!” he’d say, smiling.

One day, the caterpillar stopped moving. It made a cocoon, and the boy was so excited. He couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. He stared at the cocoon every day, eagerly waiting for the transformation.

Weeks passed. The boy would sit in front of the cocoon, staring, wishing he could speed up the process. “Come on, come on!” he’d say impatiently.

Finally, one day, the cocoon started to wiggle. The boy jumped up in excitement, watching as the caterpillar slowly began to emerge, wings wet and delicate. “Oh wow! This is it!” he said, thrilled.

But then, as the butterfly struggled to open its wings, the boy thought, “I can’t let it struggle like that!” He took the scissors from his desk and, without thinking, snipped a little bit of the cocoon to help the butterfly out faster.

The butterfly, now free, fluttered weakly for a few seconds… and then promptly fell to the ground. “Oh no!” the boy cried. “What happened?! Why isn’t it flying?!”

The boy rushed to the butterfly, only to hear a voice from above: “Hey! You cut my cocoon, didn’t you?”

The boy looked up, startled, to see a very annoyed butterfly wearing tiny, tiny sunglasses. “You’re supposed to let me struggle! That’s how my wings get strong! You just ruined my flight lesson!”

The boy, now deeply embarrassed, stammered, “I… I was just trying to help!”

The butterfly rolled its eyes and said, “Yeah, well next time, let me work on my fitness routine, okay? It’s not always about making things easier! You should try it sometime!”

And with that, the butterfly flew off, leaving the boy standing there with a lesson on patience and letting nature do its thing.
