The story began when I was a child. I was born as a son of a poor family. Even for eating, we often didn’t have enough food. Whenever it was time to eat, my mother would often give me her portion of rice.

I would look at her and say, “Mom, you should eat too.”

She would smile and reply, “Don’t worry, son. I’m not hungry.”

I always believed her… until one day, I saw her stomach growling so loud that even the neighbors’ cat looked concerned.

As I grew older, things didn’t get much better financially. My mother continued sacrificing for me. She would save money for my school books instead of buying herself new clothes.

One day, I said, “Mom, why don’t you ever buy new clothes?”

She smiled and said, “Don’t worry, son. I don’t need new clothes.”

Meanwhile, her old dress had so many holes in it that when the wind blew, people thought she was trying to send Morse code.

When I finally got my first job, I wanted to give back. I took my mother to a nice restaurant for the first time. The waiter came and asked for our order.

I proudly said, “Mom, order anything you want. Today, we eat like royalty!”

She looked at the menu, hesitated, then smiled and said, “I’ll just have a glass of water… I’m not that hungry.”

That’s when I finally snapped. I stood up and dramatically said, “MOM! You’ve been ‘not hungry’ for 25 years! Today, you’re getting a full meal whether you like it or not!”

She sighed, looked at the waiter, and said, “Fine... I’ll have a small salad.”

I facepalmed. “MAKE IT A STEAK! AND DESSERT! AND A TAKE-HOME BOX!”

That night, she finally ate a proper meal. And do you know what happened?

She looked at me, wiped her mouth, and said, “Wow... I think I was hungry after all.”
