Gravely ill, the Skipper was examined by a doctor while his wife stood by. After the examination, the physician motioned for her to meet him in the hallway.
"Your husband is very sick," the doctor said in a hushed tone.
The wife clutched her chest. "Oh no… how bad is it?"
The doctor sighed. "It’s serious. But there’s hope—IF you follow my instructions carefully."
She nodded frantically. "Anything, Doctor! Tell me what to do."
The doctor leaned in. "For the next six months, you must take impeccable care of him. Cook him three nutritious meals a day, never let him experience stress, and agree with everything he says—no arguments. Always keep him comfortable, let him rest, and most importantly… always keep a smile on your face!"
The wife blinked. "That’s it? No medicine? No surgery?"
The doctor shook his head. "Just love, patience, and absolute peace."
The wife nodded thoughtfully, took a deep breath, and walked back into the room.
The Skipper looked up weakly from his hospital bed. "What did the doctor say, dear?"
She patted his hand and smiled sweetly. "Oh honey… he said you're not going to make it."
