After a long and serious operation, Edna ended up in a coma. Try as they might, the doctors just couldn't bring her out of it.

When her husband, Ralph, came into the intensive care unit to visit her, he sat by her bedside, holding her hand, his heart heavy with worry. The doctors had told him that sometimes, familiar voices or gentle touch could help awaken coma patients.

So Ralph leaned in close and whispered, "Edna, honey… it’s me, Ralph. Can you hear me?"

No response.

He sighed, squeezing her hand gently. "Sweetheart, I know you’re in there. The doctors say you might be able to hear me. If you can, please—just give me a sign."

Still nothing.

Desperate, he decided to try something different. He leaned in even closer and whispered softly, "Edna… I just maxed out the credit card on a brand-new fishing boat."

Suddenly, a beep! The monitor showed a flicker of brain activity.

Encouraged, he continued, "And… I hired that young blonde neighbor to help me clean the house while you’re resting."

Edna’s eyes flew open, her hand shot up, and she weakly croaked, "Like hell you did!"

The doctors rushed in, amazed. "It’s a miracle!" one of them shouted.

Ralph grinned and patted Edna’s hand. "Welcome back, dear. I knew that would do the trick."
