One afternoon, a fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of grapes hanging from over a lofty branch. "Just the thing to quench my thirst," he thought.
Taking a few steps back, the fox gathered his strength and leaped into the air. "Almost there!" he thought, as he stretched his body toward the grapes.
But no matter how hard he tried, the grapes remained just out of reach. The fox tried again, and again, his paws swiping through the air in frustration, but the grapes stayed just out of his grasp.
Finally, after several failed attempts, the fox sat down, panting heavily. He stared up at the grapes for a moment, then, with a dramatic sigh, said aloud, "You know what? They’re probably sour anyway."
A squirrel, who had been watching from a nearby tree, overheard and chuckled. "That’s what you get for trying to reach beyond your limits!"
The fox, without missing a beat, looked up and said, "Sour or not, they’d make a perfect addition to my new juice cleanse. But thanks, I’m just fine with my... wild berry salad."
The squirrel shook his head. "Yeah, I bet. But you know, the best kind of grapes are the ones you don’t need to reach for in the first place."
