A Raven, which you know is black as coal, was envious of the Swan, because her feathers were as white as the purest snow. The foolish bird got the idea that if he lived like the Swan, he could change his life and make everyone admire him.
So, the Raven decided to follow the Swan's lifestyle. He began by flying only to the cleanest, clearest lakes, spending hours near the shimmering waters, hoping to find a way to make his feathers as white as hers. He didn’t bathe in mud anymore or hang out with the crows; he was all about that swan life.
He even tried imitating the Swan’s graceful glide across the water. The Raven would attempt to "glide" on the surface, but instead of looking elegant, he’d awkwardly splash about, flapping like a madman. A few ducks nearby gave him weird looks and muttered to each other, "What’s he trying to do? Have you ever seen a bird so desperate?"
Days went by, and the Raven's frustration grew. He was still as black as ever, and his attempts to copy the Swan’s beauty only made him look like a wet, soggy mess. On the brink of giving up, he noticed something strange. Every time he went near a group of Swans, they’d laugh behind his back, whispering to one another. At first, the Raven thought they were mocking him, but then one of the Swans approached and said, “You know, Raven, we admire your effort, but there’s one thing we can’t figure out. Why are you trying to be like us? We love our snow-white feathers, but we’ve never tried to be like you.”
The Raven was taken aback, “What do you mean?”
The Swan smiled, “Well, look at yourself! You’re unique, with your glossy black feathers and your brilliant eyes. You don’t need to change to fit in. Maybe if you stopped trying so hard to be like someone else, you’d realize how special you already are.”
The Raven paused, thinking for a moment, and then a lightbulb went off in his head. “Wait a second… you’re right! I am awesome as I am!”
From that day forward, the Raven flew proudly through the skies, his glossy black feathers gleaming in the sunlight, and he stopped trying to be something he wasn’t. In the end, he learned an important lesson: There’s no need to envy others—be yourself, because that’s what makes you stand out.
And as for the Swans? Well, they might have been snow-white, but they couldn’t pull off the Raven's stylish, sleek look. Who needs to be a Swan when you're rocking the Raven vibe?
