A little while after tucking their three-year-old boy, Georgie, in for bed one night, his parents heard sobbing coming from his room.

Rushing back in, they found him sitting up in bed, his face red and covered in tears, crying hysterically.

His mom sat down beside him, gently rubbing his back. “Sweetheart, what’s wrong?”

Through sniffles and hiccups, Georgie wailed, “Grandma told me that someday I have to grow up and leave home!”

His dad chuckled. “Well, yes, but not for a very, very long time. You don’t have to worry about that now!”

Georgie wiped his nose on his pajama sleeve, took a deep breath, and then suddenly gasped in horror.

His mom, now getting worried, held his tiny hands. “What is it, sweetie?”

Georgie’s eyes widened as he pointed at his dad. “BUT DADDY LIVES HERE TOO! HE'S A GROWN-UP! WHEN IS HE MOVING OUT?!”

His dad blinked. “Uh… well, I—”

Before he could finish, Georgie grabbed his mom’s arm. “MOMMY, WE HAVE TO START PACKING HIS STUFF! WHERE WILL HE GO? WILL HE BE OKAY? WILL HE HAVE ENOUGH SNACKS?!”

His mom bit her lip, trying not to laugh, while his dad sat there in stunned silence.

Georgie sniffled and whispered, “I mean, I love him… but rules are rules.”

His dad sighed, stood up, and shook his head. "Great. Kicked out by a three-year-old."

His mom patted his shoulder. "Well, at least now you know how your own dad must've felt."
